Our birthrights

When we surrender our lives to Christ at that moment we are born again, into a new birthright one of eternal life and blessings of being a child of God.

But we are still here on this earth in the valley of the shadow of death and we live and work in a hostile environment. We get weak, wore out and become fearful of what might happen next in our lives.

This does not excuse our behavior it just goes to prove how much we walk in our flesh.

Esau did this he was tired and hungry he sold his birthright for a cup of stew and bread. The Bible says he despised his birthright, He was controlled by his flesh and for nothing gave up all the blessings that were his.

When we give into to sin , we are selling off our birthright for a moment of self satisfaction, at that time we despise our new birthright and pursue our old slave master.

We do not understand who we are in Christ, what it means to be a child of God and that we no longer need to rely on self for our needs but trust that God will provide them.

Don't let your fear of the unknown weaken your faith, ask God to strengthen your faith and conquer your fears let Him grow you and show you that in Him you and I have everything.

Don't sell yourself short by missing out on the blessings of God and selling off your birthright for a moment of self satisfaction.

Once when Jacob was cooking stew, Esau came in from the field, and he was exhausted. And Esau said to Jacob, “Let me eat some of that red stew, for I am exhausted!” (Therefore his name was called Edom.) Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright now.” Esau said, “I am about to die; of what use is a birthright to me?” Jacob said, “Swear to me now.” So he swore to him and sold his birthright to Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew, and he ate and drank and rose and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.

Genesis 25:29-34

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
